Baby Hiccups

I was home for my sister's baby showers this past weekend and I got to experience the coolest thing - my unborn neice had hiccups in the womb! It felt like "kicking" but it was in the area where the baby's head is and it was very methodic. Craziness! How can people say that unborn children aren't really alive? They so are!

Anyway, it was a whirlwind weekend, but I'm so glad I was able to go home for that. Now it's back to the same ol' stuff, and I can't tell you what a long day today was! I guess the next biggest milestone for me will be the birth of Madelyn ... can't wait :)

An Update At Last

Long time no post! tee hee ...

So here's what's new, for those of you (if any) who still check in. My boss has decided that, whether I stay for a long time or just until the next best thing comes along, she wants to cross-train me in the job duties of an office assistant senior so that A) it will be a smoother transition if I need to fill in for an extended period of time or if I ever am promoted (even though it doesn't look like there will be an opening anytime soon) and B) I get more variety in my job and am able to spend my mornings away from the front desk, away from the phones, and training on more complex tasks. This makes me happy :) It helps the days go by smoother and more quickly.

Today, Jason and I went to Santa Barbara. We first went to the Santa Barbara Zoo, which is located right next to the ocean and is a very beautiful area. The layout and landscaping is very picturesque, although my childhood eyes/mind remember the Milwaukee Zoo as being a lot bigger. I know Milwaukee had more exhibits and animals anyway - no sea show at the SB zoo, not as many farm animals, and no arctic species (go figure). But it was fun! Then we headed to downtown Santa Barbara where we went to an outdoor mall and ate at the California Pizza Kitchen (mmm, I highly recommend the Roasted Potato and Chicken pizza). Then we walked around State Street - shops galore - and finished up the day at Ben & Jerry's. It was around 60 degrees and cloudy the whole day, so not too bad! Sounds like Milwaukee got hit pretty hard with snow yesterday, so I can't complain :)
