Kickball

I finally saw the "Kickball" Nooma. It reminded me that I can't always get what I want, nor do I WANT that to happen because God knows what's best for me so much more than I do. As long as we truly believe that God is good, why should we demand that he give us a specific request when he might have something else in store for us that would benefit us more in the long run? It was perfect timing for me to hear that message, since I'm anxious about finding a job in Milwaukee and figuring out the details of when (and even if) to move. Sometimes it's such a relief to remember that we don't have to know what's best for us, as long as we trust God to take care of it or steer us in the right direction. It's just unfortunate that I don't spend enough time in prayer or in the Bible to really hear what he's telling me!

Family Feud

It's a dream come true -- I finally got called to audition for Family Feud! Oh no! What's the problem, you ask? I have no family in the area! Hmmm, didn't really think that one through, did I? I'm going to call FF back (they left a message) and see what all an audition entails. If it sounds like we'd have a good chance to actually get on the show, I just might see if I can persuade some relatives to visit :) Or dig out the family history books and see what long-lost relative lives in the area. ha!

Anyway, since I'm finally posting again, here's a quick update ... Jason's loving Starbucks, I'm looking for jobs in Milwaukee, my neice is the cutest being alive (from what I can tell from the pictures anyway), and all our friends are moving away! Santa Maria is just too darn expensive and there's not a lot of employment options here, as I found out the hard way. Our 2BR apartment rent is now going to be $1,130 if we want to go month-to-month after our lease! What's up with that? I guess it's cheaper than a $3,000 mortgage for a house that most people pay here.

Last night I watched "The Dive from Claussen's Pier" on TV. I read the book a while back and loved it, and the movie also provoked the same emotions. It's amazing how someone can write a fictional story that so tugs at your heart! Of course, it was definitely made-for-TV-movie quality, but still enjoyable.

Guess that's all for now.

Rude Tones

I've pretty much given up on keeping up with this blog, but this link was too funny not to share. Last week, while we were playing this game called "Rock it to #1" with my small group, we collectively came up with the idea of ring tones that are farts, burps, really bad renditions of songs (i.e. karaoke-style), etc. and even thought of the name "Rude Tones" for this venture of ours ... We figured we'd look into it just for kicks, but sure enough the idea already exists! If anyone's reading this and is in a quirky mood, check out some of the farts, laughs, and other rude tones at this site:

Baby Laugh and Extended Fart are 2 of my faves :)
